At a small closed-door fundraiser after Super Tuesday, Sen. Hillary Clinton blamed what she called the "activist base" of the Democratic Party -- and MoveOn.org in particular -- for many of her electoral defeats, saying activists had "flooded" state caucuses and "intimidated" her supporters, according to an audio recording of the event obtained by The Huffington Post.
"Moveon.org endorsed [Sen. Barack Obama] -- which is like a gusher of money that never seems to slow down," Clinton said to a meeting of donors. "We have been less successful in caucuses because it brings out the activist base of the Democratic Party. MoveOn didn't even want us to go into Afghanistan. I mean, that's what we're dealing with. And you know they turn out in great numbers. And they are very driven by their view of our positions, and it's primarily national security and foreign policy that drives them. I don't agree with them. They know I don't agree with them. So they flood into these caucuses and dominate them and really intimidate people who actually show up to support me."

Interesting that it's only coming out now... someone held on to that tape for two months.
Oh, and MoveOn - don't forget it was created 10 years ago to defend Bill Clinton.

Re: Hillary disses MoveOn
Sat, April 19, 2008 - 6:01 AM........it's always been the conservative DLC's that diss'd the democratic wing the Demo Party. Clinton .....in addition to being the sort of person whom finds a home in Cheney/Palosi country.......is finally getting why 21st century mainstream Demo politics is being invented in her and bubba's honor.....

Sat, April 19, 2008 - 10:08 PMI find it ironic that the group that she disses is the group that's name was related to the fact that congress was wasting it's time trying to weaken the Clinton's over the Lewinsky matter. -

Re: Hillary disses MoveOn
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 6:01 AMI was at said caucuses and I found the Hillary supporters to be much better organized and certainly more vocal and intimidating. At my senatorial distract, we turned out to be something like 70% for Obama, but the crowd looked like it had far more Hillary supporters because each one of them had a great big Hillary sign.
Hillary has no connection with progressive groups such as MoveOn and Pink Slip because she is establishment and they are not.
This is an interesting clip, especially in the light of the "if I'd only known I wouldn't have voted for war" excuse.

Re: Hillary disses MoveOn
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 8:26 AMWhile I share your prayers n' hopes, Jeanmarie, I am concerned about the primary Tues. The 'machine' and a few, but very entrenched, conservative demo office holders and equally occified AFL-CIO bosses are pushing hard for Hillary. We in the Change To WIn coalition(SEIU, Cannery Workers and Teamsters) are hitting the streets for Obama in...yes, sometimes not as military a manner. My SEIU-which was reborn after our president, Andy Stern, grew weary of the backrooms filled with the "Male, Pale and Stale" -is a purple-clad wave of doorbellers. We have the numbers.......let's hope conservative rust-belt democrats see the light..........

Mon, April 21, 2008 - 1:37 AMPoor Hillary. It's tough to sell your soul to the highest bidder in pursuit of power and then get sensible people to want to support you. Give MoveOn hell, Hillary! I'm sure that'll help somehow...
